Job Description
The Director of Health Information Management is responsible for planning, organizing and implementing work assignments and projects. Must be skilled in getting work done through the formal and informal direction of others. The Director of Health Information Management must make decisions using analysis, objectivity, foresight, drive and creativity. Must possess the ability to select, train, motivate and develop subordinates. The Director of Health Information Management must express and communicate ideas both verbally and in writing. Must be competent in department specific competencies and perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
A. Education: College degree or equivalent experience with licensure in a medical field.
B. Experience: Two years of supervisory experience. Coding and Medical Records experience or related business experience.
C. Skills: Certifications or licensure compatible with education and experience. Must possess good people skills and knowledge of PC based software.
D. Tasks: Manage department operations, performs department evaluations and competences according to policy, provides a positive working relationship with others, manages dept employees in a fair, competent manner, assures appropriate staffing, monitors incomplete record delinquency and does not exceed 50%, enforces physician suspension policy, ensures department equipment is maintained and functioning properly, completes required billing and coding education annually, attend dept manager meetings, HIM/UM Medical Staff meetings and assigned Medical Staff meetings.
