Position Summary
The Registered Dietitian will provide services, timely and efficiently, at appropriate levels to all patients and in all settings served by the department. The Registered Dietitian will also perform tasks and duties as outlined in the Food and Nutrition Services Department’s Policy and Procedure Manual and will assist in assigned administrative tasks, both basic and advanced, and will maintain clinical competencies through participation in educational and orientation programs. The Registered Dietitian should also be able to provide advanced clinical expertise and education to departmental staff members.
Task Listing
1. Collaborates with other hospital services to plan and implement patient nutrition care
2. Approve patient menus and nutritional supplements
3. Maintain patient data needed to recommend, prescribe or modify therapeutic diets needed to meet the nutritional needs of the patient. Evaluate patient’s tolerance of therapeutic diets.
4. Patient, family and caretaker dietary counseling
5. Complete and document nutritional assessments as ordered by physicians fulfilling the hospital standard requirements
6. Schedules and completes outpatient dietary counseling.
